What we collect
We may collect your email address when you subscribe to the Artists Eat First brief. If you save an Artist Business Score, we collect your name, artist name, email address, optional Spotify artist URL, assessment answers and calculated results. We may also collect information you send when you contact us and limited technical information needed to deliver and secure the website, such as request logs, device information and IP address.
How we use it
We use assessment details to calculate, save and email your result, understand common needs across artist businesses and improve the assessment. We use your email address for Artists Eat First editorial updates only when you separately opt in to marketing. We also process limited technical information to operate, protect and improve the website, respond to enquiries and meet our legal obligations.
Our legal bases include providing the result you requested, your consent for email marketing, our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the site, and compliance with legal obligations where applicable. You can withdraw your marketing consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in an email.
Services we use
We use service providers to run the website and manage content, including Sanity and the website hosting platform. MailerLite manages marketing subscriptions and Resend delivers assessment-result emails. These providers process information on our instructions and under their own security and data protection commitments.
International transfers
Some providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards required by data protection law.
How long we keep it
We keep newsletter details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. We retain assessment submissions while they remain useful for providing the service, understanding artist-business needs and improving Artists Eat First, unless you ask us to delete yours. We may retain a minimal suppression record so that we continue to respect your opt-out. Enquiries and essential operational records are kept only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose collected, security and legal requirements.
Cookies and analytics
We use technology that is necessary to operate and secure the site. We may also use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful and how visitors move through the site. Optional analytics loads only if you choose to allow it. You can decline without losing access to the site.
